Freddie's trip to Sri Lanka

The Nottingham Emmanuel School · 31 December 2014
My name is Freddie and I am a student at the Nottingham Emmanuel School. In this upcoming year I am hoping to partake in a school trip to Sri Lanka to help the community rebuild after the past Boxing Day tsunami. Just over 10 years ago an undersea megathrust earthquake sent waves up to 100ft into the coast of south Asia striking 14 countries and claiming around 250,000 lives. One of the countries that took the sheer brunt of the resultant tsunami was Sri Lanka.
During the summer holidays my school, The Nottingham Emmanuel School, will take a handful of students to Sri Lanka to help the country in its ongoing recovery. We will be going to Sri Lanka for 10 days and helping out in a variety of ways; from helping with constructions or spending time with the community.
Recently I read a book called Tsunami kids about a family that where there when then the Tsunami struck. I would recommend this to everyone as after reading it I felt a desire to experience the culture whilst contributing to the people who live there.
I would be greatfull for all donations to help me on my way on this thrilling adventure!
