Story

Since visiting Olympia quite a few years ago and watching the Shetland Pony Grand National, it has always been a dream for Freddie (aged 11) to take part in it.

After lots of searching, mainly online, in the summer of 2018 we purchased Blackie (Brewards Kerwen) after seeing an advert in Preloved.com and a brief trial in his then owners' field jumping a small jump and hoping that he would be as quick with Freddie on him as he was in the field when we turned him out there!

At just 6 years old it is the first year that Blackie could compete in these races and it is quite unbelievable to think of what they have achieved this year together.  Freddie has done all the work himself.

He is so proud to represent the Shetland Pony Grand National which, this year, has taken him from Badminton to Burghley via Gatcombe Park and even on the flat at Newmarket where they ran a fantastic race to snatch 4th on the line and earn the chance to walk into the famous Winners' Enclosure there.

Now to get to Olympia, and to support such a worthwhile charity - The Bob Champion Cancer Trust too, is an absolute dream come true and we are so very proud of both Freddie & Blackie.
