Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are three Granddaughters raising money for Dementia UK.In 2019 our Grandad Fred was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. It wasn't till after Christmas his condition progressed drastically. We found ourselves in A&E surrounded by nurses and security. With Dementia can come agitated behaviour. The sort of behaviour our Grandad was never none for. Before Dementia he was a gentle soul. He was eventually diagnosed with another type of Dementia called Lewy bodies Dementia. This causing hallucinations, something you could probably seek comfort in as the pandemic and lockdown was only a week or so away. We lost 1 and half years with our Grandad. The pandemic saw a drastic change in way we all lived our lives. A big adjustment getting use to the fact our Grandad would never come home to us but never a thought of when would we be able to see him again. Covid-19 struck and grandad the strong man he still is. remains Covid free to this day. We now have visiting rights since lockdown has been lifted. Time we will never get back but just glad that he is safe.
We are only one family dealing with a loved one suffering from Dementia. Thousands of families out there need support in dealing with someone with dementia. The toll it has on day to day life , the adjustments needing to be made during the pandemic. Dementia UK does just that. We thank all those who have and continue to help our Grandad battle through what dementia has in store for him. Grandad in his mind is playing with his tractor on the farm. A happy place for him to be.
Fred became a Great Grandad in lockdown to Tilly Grace. A Great granddaughter who he would have adored. Like he did with his three granddaughter , Hannah, Leah and Taylor. We are determined to make our Grandad proud. We cant help grandad but we can help so many more like him. So please join us in making Fred proud in raising money for Dementia UK.
