Freddie’s Gift is a non profit organisation that I set up in memory of my beautiful little boy who suddenly and tragically passed away on 7th March 2015 aged just 2 & 1/2 years old. Freddie got very poorly throughout the night with an super added viral and bacterial infection which caused acute exacerbation of his asthma. We were beyond shocked and absolutely heartbroken. He was the most loving little boy, my whole world, and I find comfort in the fact that he knew just how loved he was.
So far, in Freddie’s memory, by organising lots of challenges and events, we have raised 16,000 which has bought cooling systems for Musgrove Park Hospital and Bristol Children’s Hospital. This equipment helps grieving families spend precious time with their loved ones soon after they pass. Sadly, we didn’t get this with Freddie, so now families at these hospitals can.
With the help of amazing fundraisers, I have also managed to buy sensory equipment for children at Musgrove, this helps calm and distract them when they’re poorly or going through operations etc.
We are now aiming to raise £5,500 for a ‘Vapotherm Oxygen Machine’ which will be used to help many children that are bought into A & E with asthma and breathing related illnesses, and will help transfer them safely to children’s ward. This is something very close to my heart and a very special gift from Freddie that will help so many children.
I am now working with ‘Love Musgrove’ which is Musgrove Park Hospital’s fantastic Charity and it’s great to have the support from them too. So far a group of us have raised just over one thousand pounds towards this by walking 22 miles in 10 hours. A group and I will be doing another 22 mile Sponsored walk for April 7th and there will be 2 other annual Freddie’s Gifts events happening before summer.
I am over the moon that my sons school where Freddie should be in year 1 is holding a charity ball in April for Freddie’s Gift. Any support and donation of any amount is hugely appreciated and I am beyond grateful for any help.
Thank you
