Story
Dementia, a syndrome caused by complex brain diseases, is often a really devastating illness that turns the lives of many completely upside-down. Sadly, one in 14 people over 65 will develop dementia, and this figure rises to one in six for those over 80. Currently, there are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and this number is expected to reach one million by 2025.
The facts really are shocking and actually quite scary. As a Psychology student myself, I’ve done a great deal of research that has opened my eyes to how destructive dementia can be; how it can completely ravage the lives of those effected.
Having had this illness within my family, I’ve also seen it first hand.
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the driving force behind dementia research in the UK. It is their dedication, drive and commitment to research that has allowed us to learn more about this crippling disease and importantly how we can fight back.
This is something that can be beaten, and I hope to live in a world where this not only just achievable, but a reality.
Every single contribution makes a difference - however small. Anything you donate will be directly impacting on extremely important research and helping the fight against dementia.
I would be so extremely grateful and happy to see people helping me fund for this cause, on any level. And hopefully I’ll get to see a few of you there on the big day!!
