We are an independent charity, part of a global community of like-minded people and organisations that share a passion to alleviate poverty and suffering around the world. We deliver help on the ground through local partnerships, networks and individuals, working with people and projects that inspire us, that have a gifting for their work and a clear vision for what they wish to achieve. We help change lives by meeting basic needs: food, housing, education, shelter and helping people achieve legitimacy and legal status. Our projects are designed to empower greater self-sufficiency, new hope and a more sustainable future – a handshake, not a hand out.

Story

Freedom House is situated in the beautiful countryside near Iasi called Dobrovat.  Funded by donations to Robin Hood Ministries, the house began taking shape in 2006 to provide a haven for children whose parents do not have the means of supporting them financially; given them a safe place where they can be cared for, along with counselling, training and education for families unable to access these facilities elsewhere due to their poverty.

Although still some way off completion, throughout 2010 summer over 150 sponsored children enjoyed being at day camp.  It gave them the chance to experience 'childhood' and an opportunity to bond with others who know what it is to struggle through each day. There were no dustbin dinners at Freedom House.

Further funds raised this summer enabled the outside to be given its new coat, but inside is a different story.  One area is complety decorated  with beautiful tiling to the floors, but the rest is a shell. We need to raise a further £25,000 to enable a kitchen, 4 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, heating, electricity, beds for 34 children, tables, chairs and furnishings will furnish all the empty rooms.  Toys and computers will furnish empty days.

Freedom House will also provide accomodation for those visiting the area on our pre-arranged 'awareness trips', enabling an income stream for the project.  Already they are being contacted to rent out the property for other organisations.   Anything that can be done to raise the plight of these children will help those who are in need now: Educating them helps the generation that will follow.
