To coincide with World diabetes day , we are ten year 7 pupils from St. Michael's Middle School, Colehill, England who are attempting to swim the equivalent length of the English Channel in their school swimming pool.
Each of us will swim 202 lengths of the pool so collectively we will cover the 21 mile distance from Dover to Calais.
The idea was conceived by Kirsty who has had to deal with Type 1 diabetes since being diagnosed at the age of 7, and her 9 friends Mia, Bria, Hari, Martha, Georgia, Rianne, Charlie, Katie and Anna were only too pleased to join in the challenge.
Our school was delighted to allow the use of the pool and the lifeguards Chris, Alice and another friend and fellow pupil Verity chipped in with their time to help.
We will be completing the challenge on 12th November and would really appreciate your donation which will go to JDRF - the foundation with the mission to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
