Dear Friends,

From 25th-27th June my friend Louis and I are going to make our way around the Berlin Wall. It is 155 km (96.3 miles) and now exists as a continuous trail through the city and it's western edges. I will be walking, jogging and cycling it; Louis will be cycling, walking and perhaps roller skating! We may even be carrying a novelty item or two as we go... Updates to follow! 

We are raising money to help people in India's Covid-19 tragedy. India is a country close to my heart and seeing the images of suffering they have been enduring has been heart-breaking. 

I also remember seeing the workers last year on TV who had to walk hundreds of miles home when a lockdown was imposed overnight in India, and a girl who travelled with her sick father on the back an old bicycle and saved him. That inspired me. 

"There is hardly a family that has been spared."

This is a quote from Der Spiegel today (02.06.21), in an interview with the Indian intellectual Pratap Bhanu Mehta, who has spoken out against the government's handling of the crisis. 

All going well, with tired and blistered feet, we will succeed.

There are various charities and campaigns helping in the crisis. I chose 'Family for Every Child' because they are a smaller charity who really need funds for their campaign. They focus on the important work of keeping families together and helping children who do not have any. 

They say: "We believe that the best place for a child to grow up, regardless of background or circumstance, is in a safe, caring and permanent family"
