As many of you know our youngest daughter receives specialist treatment for her cerebral palsy at the White Lodge Centre in Chertsey. We are extraordinarily lucky to have such a specialist centre only 15 mins from home, and as a result Freya receives a level or treatment, therapy, and activities that is far beyond what we might otherwise have access to had we not been so close to such a wonderful clinic.
To put it in perspective, Freya has activities / therapy nearly four days a week, including focused intense playgroup, swimming and hydrotherapy, direct physio therapy, and now she even has horseback riding to encourage her stability and movement.
While much of the day-to-day expense is matched off with the NHS, the facility still requires in excess of £1,000 a day to run, excluding any expenses for capital or physical plant improvements and as such, the centre is highly dependent on donations to meet these costs.
I would also like to emphasize that this is a "real" organization... there are no highly paid directors or professional media agents... the money they receive is used to pay staff, utilities, etc. keeping the centre going on a day-to-day basis.
Many thanks for helping!
