Story
Munros for mobility!
Exploring enchanting Caledonian pine forest, watching wild greylag geese flocking at dusk, spotting breeding osprey at Loch Garten: these are just some of the natural wonders of RSPB Abernethy nature reserve that can be enjoyed by visitors.
We at the Friends of Abernethy (FAB) - the reserve’s local support group - would like to enable less mobile people to experience the joy of being in the forest or by a tranquil loch. Nature should be accessible to all, and with that, we need your help! We are fundraising to purchase a 4-wheel drive, off-road electric scooter to enable even more of our visitors to enjoy the reserve independently.
Our intrepid leader, Jean Burns, is leading that charge, aiming to hike halfway to the full set of Munro mountains - 141 for 2025!
Having already completed 70 Munros to celebrate her 70th birthday and 100 Munros for her Golden Wedding Anniversary, Jean has already demonstrated a fantastic commitment to the challenge. Donate here today to support Jean’s excellent work and help FAB reach our goal of making RSPB Abernethy accessible!
Thank you for your support whether monetary, climbing a few Munros with us, or following this challenge and sharing on social media. Well deserved thanks also go to Oliver Mentz, Lead Guide, Climb Torridon who was instrumental in getting Jean to the summits of the Cullens and Torridon hills, and back down again safely.
