In memory of Rory Cheetham

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a charity set up in 1990 by people sick of seeing the ocean they love polluted. We campaign to protect the ocean and all it makes possible, by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top. We're calling for an end to sewage and plastic pollution.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

On the 27th of March I will set off from Exeter and make my way down the west coast of France. Hundreds of kilometres each day will lead me to my final destination, Pas de la Casa, Andorra. I am doing this to raise money for Surfers Against Sewage, all in memory of a great friend.

On the 12th of January Rory passed away having spent the day surfing at Saunton Sands. He had a rare heart condition, ARVC, but that never held him back. Rory will remain one of the most adventurous guys I have ever met. Inspirational, loving and sometimes just down right mad!

So now it's my turn.

This year Exeter University Snowsports travel to Pas de la Casa, Andorra for their Easter ski trip and back in January I had the mad idea of joining them, by cycling there. After his passing Rory's family generously asked I keep hold of his bike so this will naturally be my vehicle of choice. Rory was studying biology here in Exeter. He was a keen surfer and conservationist, with a view to become a shark specialist. His family and many peers strongly feel that Surfers Against Sewage is a cause Rory would be very proud of so your donations will mean a great deal.

So off I go. 1000 kilometers of adventure ahead.

Many thanks, Phil.
