Story

Going for gold

Charities come in all shapes and sizes.  From huge, well established corporate brands, to local underfunded community projects, there
is a charity out there for almost every cause
.  Causes for people, for
animals, for purpose, for rights.  For research, for education, for health and the environment.  For support, for bereavement, for your organs and your mind.  So, if you want to use your position to help
the world, where do you start?

Last year, we raised a total of £15,500 for The World Transplant Games – a cause to raise awareness for the Organ Donor Register.  A
huge achievement for an amazing nationwide cause, especially when executed by as little as 16 people.  This year, we’ve decided to do things a little differently.

When considering giving back to a world that has been good
to you, it is easy to get lost in your own experience.  That’s why we believe in the importance of sharing the opportunity.  We gave our
employees the option of submitting a charity that they believe could benefit from our support and asked them to put a short case forward.  This then went to an anonymous, company-wide vote, which gave us our new Charity Of The Year.

It is therefore our pleasure, with excitement, hope and the humblest of hearts, that we would like to announce Teardrop Support Group as our 2020 Charity Of The Year.

Teardrop Support Group

Teardrop Support Group are a voluntary organisation based in Cramlington, around 15 minutes from Frontier Group offices.  Their mission is to provide support to bereaved parents and relatives of
babies who have been lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or termination of pregnancy because of foetal abnormality.

Teardrop, which is run by volunteers and financed on a charity basis was started in 1992 by midwives at the old Ashington Maternity Unit with the aim of better equipping staff with the skills to enable them to support anyone having experienced the death of a baby.

Teardrop is involved in a variety of areas which include staff training,
the installation of special facilities for grieving families and provisions of
equipment to help make memories.  Teardrop also manages a
special book of remembrance, the Teardrop Tree in the hospital chapel and has two annual memorial service to support families.

When considering a target, we have to think about our ambition, our previous achievements, but also how likely we are to be able repeat the generosity from those that have sponsored and donated through previous years.  We wondered - after raising such a huge amount last year and surpassing our £10,000 target  - would it be out of
the question to do the same again?

With this in mind, we decided to throw logic out of the window and go for gold!

This means our new fundraising target for Teardrop Support Group, for the year of 2020 is a huge £10,000!

So how on Earth are we going to get there?

As a team of dedicated, ambitious and driven individuals, we at Frontier know what we can do when we set our minds to it – after all, we are the team that managed to double turnover last year!

We’re going to once again pull out our fundraising thinking caps and do our utmost for a local charity in need of money, resources and projection, to do all we can to support them.
