Story

In October of 2020, we  experienced what no parent should ever experience - our sweet Hudson, passed away suddenly at only 5 months old. Doctors originally noted his passing as Unexplained Infant Death. We needed answers and did whole exome sequencing (genetic) testing. A year later, while pregnant with our third child, Cole, we received Hudson’s official diagnosis of TANGO2 Disease. Cole was tested in utero and discovered he has TANGO2 Disease as well.
TANGO2 Disease is a rare genetic disease that was recently discovered in 2016. There is very little known about this disease - no treatments, no cure, and hardly known about among the medical community. At the time of Hudson’s passing, there were only around 100 cases known worldwide.
Cole is now 11 months old and has already been in and out of the hospital many times since his birth in attempts to prevent life threatening symptoms. Everyday we live with anxiety, always checking for any signs that he may be heading into a metabolic crisis. I
Children with TANGO2 disease often have muscle weakness, developmental delays, dystonia, ataxia, and seizures. If children have any kind of fasting or infection, they can go into a metabolic crisis where their glucose levels drop dangerously low, have muscle breakdown, and life threatening cardiac arrhythmia. There isn’t much known about TANGO2 at this time, but there are researchers eager to learn, and with the generosity of your donations, the TANGO2 Research Foundation helps to fund research and give hope to TANGO2 families like our family ❤

We appreciate your support!!

Why I choose running events for fundraising? Well  let me start off with that running has never come naturally to me. I had to work at it and honestly I probably could be running a lot further and a lot faster by now. I enjoy doing it, the freedom. I enjoy the alone time and enjoy the feeling I get from running. Sometimes I’m enjoying, sometimes I am enduring. That is what life like with tango2 is like right now. I have moments where I’m enjoying our time and then sometimes I’m just enduring. That’s life in general. I am enduring the stays at hospitals and enduring the frequent hospital admissions  and doctor visits, enduring fear and anticipations. Enduring a lot but I know that life is hard and we have to do hard things.

People do hard things all the time and if I can run a half marathon and then maybe one day a marathon and then maybe even 50 miles it will all be nothing in comparison to life with Tango2. But I know that if we run this life with endurance then we are doing the best that we can. Please join me in fundraising and help us raise money for research so life for Cole maybe not be as “hard.”

 Thank you always ❤️

When Hudson passed away, Russell and I vowed to honor him by staying active and healthy.  So the day after his passing I added 💙💗💛to workout posts to honor him.

💙Heaven

💗Unconditional love

💛Joy

That’s why running is so important to me, as you can see!
