It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

With great sadness we have taken the decision not to perform our concert on 21 March 2020 due to concerns around the spread of coronavirus. We intended the concert as a celebration of the life of Nigel Blake, a clarinettist in the orchestra for nearly 25 years and a chairman of the orchestra for a good portion of this time, who died last year from pancreatic cancer.

We would have been fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK at the concert so we're holding an online fundraiser instead. Please give generously.

Nigel believed passionately in the orchestra, in its place in the community and as a place for sharing and experiencing passions, friendships and the special pleasure of working with friends to make music. He was instrumental in the current success of the orchestra when he was alive, devoting innumerable hours to supporting and championing its activities. His deep generosity continues in his death through the gift of a legacy to the orchestra that will enable us to continue to develop and to be an important part of the cultural life of Hammersmith and Fulham for years to come.

Nigel beat the odds to survive for a couple of years from his initial diagnosis, but 1 in 4 people won’t survive a month after diagnosis and survival rates have barely changed in 40 years. Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer and 27 people are diagnosed with the disease each day in the UK. Pancreatic Cancer UK are determined to change these shocking statistics by providing expert support and information, campaigning for change and funding innovative research to find the breakthroughs that will change how we diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer. Your donations will help transform the future for all those affected by pancreatic cancer and save lives.
