I'm fundraising for St Mungo's

Hackney Half Marathon 2024 · 19 May 2024 ·
Recently, I had the privilege of meeting a man who faced the heartbreaking loss of his home due to the tragedy at Grenfell Tower. Although his family survived, the aftermath left him not just without a home but also grappling with the lack of support, lead to loosing of his family too. Witnessing his journey highlighted for me the fragility of life and the vulnerability we all share.
It's a stark reminder that homelessness can affect anyone, for myriad reasons, and it's a topic that often goes unspoken and overlooked. Fortunately, in the midst of despair, St Mungo's extended a helping hand to this man, guiding him off the streets and providing unwavering support that eventually led to him being rehoused. Now, he's rebuilding his life, step by step, and has even reconnected with his daughters.
As I embark on my first half marathon, a distance I hadn't fully grasped until realising it's actually 20K (too late to back out now!), I find inspiration in the resilience of individuals like the man I met. That's why I've chosen to raise funds for the remarkable individuals at St Mungo's who, in a way, run full marathons every day in their tireless efforts to support some of the most vulnerable people in the UK. Your support will contribute to the incredible work they do and help make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
