Lymfund raises money to help people with chronic conditions like lymphoedema access Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) treatments when they cannot get the treatment on the NHS and when they cannot afford to pay for it privately.

Story

We are taking part in the 10k Great Manchester Run on Sunday 20th May 2012, in memory of our beautiful mum Yvonne Gilston, who was a patient of MLD UK Arm & a Leg. We have chosen to run for the MLD charity called “Lymfund”, to help raise money and awareness, so patients suffering with this condition can receive the treatment they so desperately need. We are so grateful for everything MLD did for our mum in the 20 years she had Lymphoedema, she would never have had the same quality of life without them and so we felt we really wanted to help give something back, just as our mum would have done. We have been training hard for the race, running 3–4 times a week. We are also holding a Fundraiser on Friday 18th May 2012, where we have entertainment and games to help raise even more funds. It feels an absolute honour to be doing this for our mum and the charity that did so much for her; it really helps to keep us motivated, and with that thought in mind, it will spur us on to the finish line!
