# FW4JDRF

Finance Wales will be hosting a year of fundraising activities to raise money for JDRF · 18 April 2016
Finance Wales will be holding a year's fund raising campaign to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to allow them continue their important research work into Type 1 diabetes. JDRF are the leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research.
Beth Bannister's daughter Alys was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 2.
In a person with type 1 diabetes the pancreas does not work properly and cannot produce any insulin. Without insulin the body cannot turn food into the energy the body needs to survive.
Alys has numerous daily blood tests and insulin injections to stay alive. Tight control of her blood sugars will ensure she keeps healthy and minimises any potential health complications later in her life.
You cannot prevent Type 1 Diabetes by adopting a healthy diet, exercising regularly or living a healthy lifestyle. There is currently no known cure for this disease and at the moment Alys has a lifetime of insulin dependency and blood tests ahead of her.
There is no escaping the diagnosis, the only certain outcome is a lifetime of insulin dependancy for her.
Finance Wales will fundraise as much as we possible can for JDRF and we have a number of exciting fundraising initiatives planned.
All our fundraising efforts will help the JDRF team get a step closer to finding the cure which may come in time to help Alys and other young children to lead a healthy life, free from Diabetes.
Thank you for your support for our fundraising activities.
Many Thanks, Diolch yn fawr x
