Please sponsor me to tackle the Chiltern Beast on 17 July, a 100-mile cycle-ride involving a 7500 feet of ascent! Starting near Chinnor, the Beast packs a punch from the off taking in the sharp climbs near Princes Risborough early on and continuing up and down the steep slopes of the Chiltern escarpment.
I am raising money to support children in a desperately poor village in Mwumba, Burundi. In Mwumba, people live in extreme poverty on small plots of land with few agricultural inputs, poor soils and land degradation. Children, particularly girls often drop out of school to help on the land. Funds raised will be applied towards an education project run by Food for the Hungry UK, “Let’s Learn to Read.” The value of education will be promoted among community members and teachers trained in best practice for educating children in core reading skills. In addition, community libraries will be set up to add to literacy interventions as children gather to play, learn and read with community volunteers.
