London Marathon 2022

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
Hi all,
I have been lucky enough to get the chance to run the London Marathon 2022 for Marie Curie. The aim is to raise awareness for those who may be suffering in silence, ensuring they get the support they deserve.
As some of you may be aware my mother passed away last year, which was incredibly hard to take for all our family. Having gone through the bereavement process myself and understanding that it never properly ends, I
hope to help anyone who may be struggling in a similar situation, whilst giving back to those who helped me.
The immediate loss of a loved one is one you can never fully prepare for, but with the help of Marie Curie, the process can be improved.
Marie Curie helps support people in the UK get through all aspects of dying, death and bereavement. They help ensure those near the end of their lives have the best experience possible, whilst providing invaluable support for those who have lost their loved ones after death. A gift of £20 will pay for an hour of dedicated nursing care for someone living with terminal illness.
Everyone deserves a right to be cared for at the end of their life. A gift today will mean that someone can receive expert care in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by memories and loved ones. It will allow someone who is grieving to have access to support, to get them through seemingly endless nights.
Finally, I want to people to know that I am always available for a chat with anyone going through a similar situation, or anyone who just feels that they need someone to talk to. I cannot stress enough the positive impact I had from talking to my friends and family about how I was doing. Everyone deals with things differently, but for anyone struggling, please do reach out to me or your loved ones.
For those who may want to speak to someone anonymously, the Marie Curie helpline is 0800 090 2309.
Any donations are massively appreciated and will go a long way to improving the life of those terminally ill.
For anyone interested I will be documenting my progress on Strava (see below) and Instagram - gibstarun :)
