2020 hit me hard and deep. Since then, I have been in a period of self-reflection, trying to trace my new path. I decided to climb the three highest peaks in the UK within 36 hours and only a few hours of sleep. 

What for?

Besides challenging myself, I want to contribute to the Meningitis Research Foundation’s and the WHO’s goal of defeating meningitis and septicaemia in the world by 2030.

Meningitis affects more than 5 million people every year!

Did you know that 1/10 people die and 2/10 are left with an impairment like brain injury or amputation because of meningitis? 

Death can occur in as little as a few hours. Small children and young adults are at high risk, but all ages can be affected.

Also, meningitis and neonatal sepsis kill more children than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDs combined!

I need your support; I need to fundraise £680 by April 2021. The money you donate will be spent researching prevention, detection and treatment of the disease, raising awareness of meningitis and its symptoms, available vaccinations, and supporting those affected.

El 2020 me golpeó duro y profundo. Desde entonces, he estado en un período de autorreflexión, tratando de trazar mi nuevo camino. Decidí escalar las tres montañas más altas del Reino Unido en 36 horas y con solo unas pocas horas de sueño.

¿Para qué?

Además de ser un desafío, quiero contribuir al objetivo de la Fundación para la Investigación de la Meningitis y de la OMS de derrotar la meningitis y la septicemia en el mundo en el 2030.

¡La meningitis afecta a más de 5 millones de personas cada año!

¿Sabías que 1/10 de personas mueren y 2/10 quedan con una discapacidad como una lesión cerebral o una amputación debido a esta enfermedad? La muerte puede ocurrir en tan solo unas horas. Los niños pequeños y los adultos jóvenes corren un alto riesgo, pero la realidad es que todas las edades pueden verse afectadas.

Además, la meningitis y la sepsis neonatal matan a más niños que la malaria, el sarampión, el tétanos y el SIDA juntos.

Necesito tu apoyo. Debo juntar $ 20,000 pesos en abril 2021. El dinero se usará en la investigación, prevención, detección y tratamiento de la enfermedad. También servirá para crear conciencia sobre la meningitis y sus síntomas, vacunas disponibles y apoyar a personas que han sido afectadas por esta enfermedad.
