Story
100 elephants are poached every day...
When an elephant is poached they are not killed quietly or efficiently. After they have been snared or shot and rendered helpless, they will have their tusks hacked off whilst still alive. But this isn't the end of the story, often the elephants killed are those who have the largest tusks - the matriarchs, the mummys. This leaves behind orphan young ones, who cannot survive on their own. Elephants are extremely loving and intelligent animals, they will mourn their dead and many orphans will die simply from heartbreak.
Thanks to the work of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, some of these traumatised babies survive. They live on, but the world they live in continues to be a threat. I'm running for elephants because I can't live in a world where this happens every day. Anything that you donate will help fight poaching, the causes of poaching and the victims of poaching.
