Story

My love of running started 9 years ago when I had an Intramuscular Myxoma removed from my right thigh and I was abruptly reminded to be grateful for my health as you never know when or how quickly this might change. This type of tumour is very rare and people are usually between 50 and 70 when diagnosed. In scans, it appears very similar to a Sarcoma but fortunately is benign and once removed should not re-occur.

Not all people are as lucky as I was, which is why I've chosen to run the 2023 London Marathon for Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat.

I say I love running, but I also vowed to never run a Marathon again when crossing the finish line of the London Marathon 2017. However, for such a worthy cause I find myself spending every spare moment training and I am excited to take on the challenge once more!

Thank you so much for all your support and I'm looking forward to seeing lots of friendly faces cheering me and all the other runners on round the 26.2 miles on Sunday 23rd April!

lots of love, Gaby xxx
