On 11th September 2022, I will be running 13.1 miles for charity (the Great North Run). I’ve never run more than 6 miles so this is a real challenge! I will also be completing the mini GNR with my 7 year old Leon the day before.

I am proud to be raising funds for Groundwork. Groundwork is a charity working to transform lives in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.

They’re passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny and no-one is held back by their background or circumstances.

They help people gain confidence and skills, get into training and work, protect and improve green spaces, lead more active lives and overcome significant challenges such as poverty, isolation, low skills and poor health.

The project my company is currently working on with Groundwork:

Schools are depending on their outdoor areas more than ever before as they deal with the pandemic to provide outdoor learning and education to children. But many schools are located near busy main roads with no barrier, opening them up to air pollution that can cause lasting effects on the children that go there. That's why I'm raising funds for Groundwork to create natural pollution barriers in primary schools. Groundwork are a charity passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny and no one is held back by their background or circumstances. That's a mission that we are proud to support at Balfour Beatty by giving school children in our communities the opportunity to access green space and learn outdoors.

Thank you so much for your support!
