Story
Ronald McDonald House was brilliant when Jago was in intensive care in London. It meant we had somewhere to stay nearby when things were really bad, so we could get there quickly if we were called in the night (and we were) to be with him.
This was one of our life's toughest parts, and every bit of help / sleep / togetherness / kindness was so important. Annie can remember travelling back to Ronald McDonald House from the hospital one night, when Jago was in intensive care, about a week old, and the cabby refusing to accept any money. She started crying! Every small kindness goes a very long way. The nights and days were some of the longest; it was hard to eat and sleep properly; and one of the hardest parts was leaving Jago at night.
Ronald McDonald House was great - a place to stay for the family, with a little kitchen & somewhere to sit down, close to the hospital, for free.
If you can spare a few quid for a really good cause, go for it. Our friends Mimi and Andrew have been staying at Ronald McDonald House in London recently while their son Bertie was in high dependency for a time. It reminded us of how tough and exhausting this time is, and of the importance of proper, practical support for families with very very ill children. Go for it - any amount is fine. It will be very much appreciated by someone who needs it. Thank you.
