Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

This Saturday I will be attempting to ride for 12 hours on my indoor cycling trainer to achieve my knighthood of Sufferlandria, and raise some money for a couple of charities. £100 will buy a bike for WBR, but i would like to raise an equal amount for each charity.

The rules are relatively simple: complete 10 Sufferfest cycling training videos back-to-back with no more than 10 minutes rest between each video. Although no performance benchmark is set to complete this challenge, my ride will need to be a ride in which I "Suffer"!

What this means for the challenge, and what it looks like, is I will start my ride at a little after 6am this Saturday. I will spend 10 hours and 7 minutes out of the next 11 hours and 37 minutes on by bike in my flat riding as hard as I can. If all goes well, I will finish as a pool of sweat, tears and tenerdized muscles sometime between 5:30-6pm.

I plan to post updates to everyone on my ride via Instagram, and hopefully some live streaming on YouTube, details of which are below. If anyone wants to ride with me for some of the challenge, I will also be riding on Zwift.

Thank you for your kind donations.
