Story

Sadly, there are not enough words for how grateful I am to Bury Hospice for the specialist care that was offered to my Mum, Roz, towards the end of her life after suffering with Cancer for a long time and passing away in the hospice at 68 in 2020.

Both at home and in the hospice the Nurses could not offer enough support, commitment and care, the warmth and compassion they showed in such difficult times was testament to their not only their characters but to the hospice as a whole.

After my Mum passed away, I was given bereavement counselling from the fantastic team at the hospice. To be able to talk through your journey with people experiencing something similar is comforting.
My Mum was a very proud lady but the whole support offered ensures that the most difficult thing we and our loved one’s experience in life is peaceful and dignified.

It costs £2.9 million a year to deliver the care at Bury Hospice and now more than ever that support is needed. The dedication and hard work the hospice team put in to support and care for local people as well as the time offered from volunteers, to staff the shops, warehouses and fundraise is second to none. To see firsthand how the fundraising helps the hospice has made me want to support by raising funds through Strictly Best Foot Forward to help the great work of the hospice continue.

It must be added the time and dedication given by the teachers and support staff to make this event the largest fundraising event for the hospice is more than amazing and long may it continue.

It costs £2.9 million pounds to run Bury Hospice, and as a charity we have to raise over £2.3 million through community support. Every donation makes a difference.
