My 14month old nephew Harry (cute photos attached) suffers from FPIES – Food ProteinInduced Enterocolitis Syndrome.  It is a potentially severe condition inyoung children that causes them to be allergic to many foodstuffs with symptomsincluding vomiting, abdominal pain, dehydration, lethargy, shallow breathingand reduced consciousness with serious reactions requiring hospital treatmentto administer intravenous fluids.

Harry is severely allergic to most foods including most meats, pulses, fruits, vegetables and milks. At last count he only had 6 foods on his safe list so you can imagine how difficult it is for his parents to keep him healthy and nourished without exposing him to other foods and the pain that comes with them. A consequence of his condition is a regular routine of hospital visits which again puts strain on his family.   The FPIES Charity provides invaluable support to the families of children with this condition.
