Fundraising for PROSTATE CANCER UK
Story

Every year in the UK 11,819 men die from Prostate Cancer, making it the third most common cancer killer after lung and bowel cancer. Deaths from Prostate Cancer are still on the rise and there isn't quite the same resource of screening programmes or investment into the research of this male-only disease.
In 2011 my Dad was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer and later in 2014 my Mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In late 2017, 5 months after being given the all clear, my Dad was diagnosed again, this time with Prostate Cancer, for which he is still undergoing treatment.
I have seen first hand the effect these diseases can have on families, so decided it was time to step up, raise awareness and help others going through this experience.
In late January 2018, I decided to take on the task of running a marathon. So in April I will take on the Manchester Marathon and take on the challenge of running, walking or crawling 26.2 Miles. It will be hard, it will be tough, but no more so than the cause i am running for, Cancer.
Fundraising is hugely important to Prostate Cancer UK. Without people like yourselves donating to the charity in various different ways, they would not exist. They need to raise around £120 million, which will help conduct research over the next eight years to reverse the trend. Together we can help achieve the 10 year goal to half the number of Prostate Cancer deaths by 2026. Without funding it is estimated that Prostate Cancer will continue to rise and by 2030 it is likely to become the most common cancer overall in the UK.
