Story

  • £20 could buy 100 glass slides for studying cells and brain tumour samples in detail under a microscope.
  • £50 could purchase 1,000 specialist tissue culture dishes to enable researchers to grow brain tumour cells in the laboratory and test new drugs that may have the potential to treat brain tumours.
  • £100 could pay for a test to understand the genetic changes associated with the development of a brain tumour
  • £250 could pay for a day's work for one of the charity's leading researchers to further the charity's understanding of a particular type of brain tumour and provide more targeted treatment.

My 'Story'

I imagine that most people will come to this site off the back of knowing me on social media. The support that my partner, Max, and I have received from this angle since diagnosis has been PHENOMENAL.

My story really lives with me, however there are some posts over on my website covering my initial diagnosis and I do try to post 'life updates' on there too.

My website is http://garidavies.me.uk

The middle bit is pretty icky and involves a lot of barfing, and A&E admissions, so I thought I'd leave that bit out whilst trying to show a positive side of being diagnosed with a rare (In adults) brain tumour.

Any money that we are able to raise would be fantastic.

I chose to fundraise for The Brain Tumour Charity as it's a lot more specific to my story (unlike other cancers which you can resolve by removing tissue, you can't just remove someone's brain, arguably!) and so for me, it feels more genuine than the bigger Cancer machines, which of course are just as worthy but who proportionally probably spend less on tumours affecting the Central Nervous System.

Also Tom Daley is a patron of the charity, not sure if that means extra swim trunks pics or not ha!!!

I've been humbled by all the support so far, you guys genuinely are amazing, so I'm sorry to tap you up for money too, but I feel that it is vitally important for me to give something back at this stage.
