In Memory of Jake Booth (Martin House Hospice)

I hope to carry out a number of endurance events this year in memory of Jake Booth who very sadly lost his brave battle with Battens Disease, aged just 6 years old, in December 2013.
I will be raising money for the two amazing charities, Martin House Hospice, Boston Spa and The Forget Me Not Hospice, Huddersfield, who both provided very special care for Jake and his family during a tragic period of his life and who continue to make life as comfortable as possible for children with terminal illnesses.
My first event will be ‘Hell on the Humber’ which is a 12 hour night race starting at 1900hrs on Saturday 16th August 2014 and finishing at 0700hrs the following morning.
The event involves continual 4 mile loops via each end of the Humber Suspension Bridge with the aim of completing as far distance as possible during this 12 hour period. I would love to be able to complete double-marathon distance (52 miles!) during this event but realise this will be an enormous personal challenge to achieve both physically and mentally.
Further endurance events I aim to complete in the coming months include:-
- A 40 mile run between the two hospices that cared for Jake around Jakes birthday in November.
- A 5 Kilometre open water swim of the length of England’s Deepest lake, Wastwater in the Lake District followed by the summiting of England’s Highest Mountain Scafell Pike that rises up from the shores of Wastwater.
I have had to create two pages so I can raise money for both equally priceless hospices, so please select your preferred option or share your donation between both if you wish.
