Romania has one of the biggest problems with stray dogs within Europe and has done for some time. With very few neutered, this sadly lead to over breeding and a huge increase of stray dogs which can be seen all over Romania.
As the problem continued to grow, a law was passed in 2013 which enables authorities to cull stray dogs. Dog catchers working in the streets to round up stray dogs and take them to the public shelters. This can be a brutal and traumatic experience for the dogs.
Our mission and aim is to make sure every dog that can find a home does, we also want to help prevent the huge stray dog problem in Romania. To help with this, we run spay campaigns throughout Romania. We think it is important to raise welfare standards so we work with our partners and directly donate food, veterinary care and support to existing dog shelters in Romania, as well as running our own and trying to lead by example.
