Story

Thank you for visiting this page!

Early 2016, I am climbing to Everest Base Camp in memory of Jordan Stanton and in aid of Anthony Nolan Charity and their pioneering work in stem cell and bone marrow transplants.

Jordan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia on 18 October 2014. Following his diagnosis, he received intense chemotherapy treatment and remained an absolute rock throughout. In March 2015, much to the joy and relief of his family, his condition went into remission .

Unfortunately in May 2015, Jordan suffered a relapse resulting in further treatment.  In August 2015, he required a Bone Marrow Transplant. Unable to find a match on the register, Jordan's mother, Michelle, provided a transplant of her bone marrow.

Following the successful transplant, Jordan's condition again went into remission and he was discharged from hospital in September 2015 and although he had two visits to the Freemans Hospital every week for check ups, he was doing perfectly fine and enjoying the life of a normal 21 year old lad.

On 18 October 2015, Jordan was re-admitted to Freemans Hospital with a flu and chest virus and then as his chest worsened, he was moved to the Critical Care Unit so they could support him better. Jordan remained there and although he was being treated for everything possible, his lungs deteriorated and he had to be put onto a machine to help him breathe.

Sadly, over a period of 2 weeks, Jordan didn't improve from the lung condition and after a long battle, and surrounded by his loved ones, Jordan passed away on Sunday 15 November 2015.

Ironically, Jordan had beaten cancer TWICE, yet it was a lung virus that took him away from his family.

Understandably, Anthony Nolan was Jordan's chosen charity and his family would be very grateful for all donations to this worthy cause.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page.

Please note that I have paid for this trek myself and that none of your contributions will be used to help "pay" for my adventure.

All your donations will be greatly appreciated and will go towards Anthony Nolan, and it's pioneering work for people with blood cancer!!!
