Story
We would like to express our gratitude at the outpouring of sympathy towards Gary and the help, support and condolences shown by so many since his death.
We have been inundated with cards and flowers, and the turnout at his funeral was extremely humbling. It has been some comfort to us to know that Gary was held in such high esteem and was widely loved and respected by many people. We tried to speak to as many people as possibly at the funeral and function afterwards, but if we didn’t get the
chance to say thank-you for attending or for any of the flowers that were sent, then we apologise and would like to take this platform to send our appreciation.
Between us we have heard many stories of our son during the last month and now think we know him even better than we did before, it is just so distressing that it has taken such a tragic event for us to learn how popular and funny Gary was with other people as he was with those closest to him, but at least we now have many new tales of him
that will help to keep his memory alive and strong.
The fundraising on this page in Gary’s honour has surpassed what we expected and again we are grateful for all of those that have donated in Gary’s memory. We will keep this page live until after the first race of the MotoGP season next month, to give anyone the chance to donate that hasn’t had the opportunity to yet.
Once again, we would like to thank-you all for your love, concern and sympathy during this difficult time.
David and Susan McLaren

We have set-up this fundraising page in honour of our beloved son Gary McLaren who was tragically killed in Thailand as he was participating in the New Year celebrations.
Gary was a devoted son and an attentive, loving and caring brother to Paul - our other son who suffers with Cerebral Palsy. He has sadly been taken away from us in the cruellest of ways and now we would like to give something back in his honour to a very worthwhile and deserving charity.
Gary had been a member of the MotoGP paddock for many years and from stories and tributes we have heard since his death, he was a very popular, friendly and humorous person in an extremely demanding arena, as well as being a conscientious, hard-working and loyal member of the teams he worked for, which included Team Roberts, Suzuki and IRTA (International Road racing Teams Association). Through his work in the paddock, Gary became a supporter of the MotoGP charity ‘Two Wheels For Life’ (www.twowheelsforlife.org) and regularly donated to this worthy cause. With this in mind we would kindly ask you to give something in Gary’s honour so that the charity can continue its fantastic work.
Gary’s funeral details are below, anyone is welcome to attend and we request you to come dressed how you feel comfortable, as we are sure Gary would not have wanted a mournful affair, but more of a joyful and celebratory atmosphere that was befitting to how he lived his life.
Thank-you for your time and interest in our son during this distressing period and hopefully we can provide something that will mean his name will live on through the great work of ‘Two Wheels For Life’.
With sadness and gratitude
Susan and David McLaren
