Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Gary Williams and I am Managing Director of Cu-Plas Callow in the Isle of Man.

When I was asked to take part in Strictly Manx this year, my wife said yes on my behalf!  The Cha Cha is not part of my current repertoire so I have been partnered with the talented Amy Richardson-Hall who is already putting me through my paces.

I am grateful to be given the opportunity to take part in a fantastic local event whilst raising money for a local charity.

Amy and I are dancing in Strictly Manx to raise money for Forget Me Not (Isle of Man).  Forget Me Not was formed in August 2018, with a mission to improve the support available for people living with dementia and their families in the Isle of Man. The charity funds the provision of the Admiral Nurse service, supported by Dementia UK and hosted by Hospice Isle of Man. In January 2020, the charity appointed the island's first Admiral Dementia Specialist nurse. Admiral Nurses work alongside people with dementia, and their families, giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance, and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline – it helps families to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear. In April 2021, a second Admiral nurse was appointed to the service. Forget Me Not funds the salary and training of this service.

Forget Me Not aims to expand the team further in order to help the 1,800 people on the Isle of Man living with dementia.
