Story
This August, I am embracing the "Cycle 274 Miles in August" challenge, transforming my summer into a journey of hope and determination. Over the course of the month, I will cycle 274 miles to raise essential funds for groundbreaking brain tumour research. Brain tumours remain the leading cancer killer of children and adults under 40, and it is time we change that.
Three years ago, I was diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma after experiencing sudden deafness in one ear and balance difficulties. Thankfully, my tumour is benign, and thanks to the excellent care at Addenbrookes Hospital and recent radiotherapy treatment aimed at halting its growth, I am optimistic about my future. However, many others are not as fortunate.
Brain Tumour Research is the only national charity dedicated solely to finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Despite one in three people in the UK knowing someone affected by this disease, only 1% of national cancer research funding has been allocated to brain tumours since 2002. This must change.
I invite you to join me in supporting this vital cause by donating to help fund life-saving research. Every contribution brings us closer to a cure and offers hope to countless families affected by this devastating disease.
Together, through determination and generosity, we can make a difference. Please support my fundraising goal of £150 during this cycling challenge starting on 1 July 2026. Thank you for helping shine a light on brain tumour research and giving hope for a brighter tomorrow.
