The Annual Community Support Campaign provides funds to help those less fortunate in our community to enjoy and learn from the services provided by the Y. The Y has long been a part of my life. My first job was as a camp counselor at Camp Chesapeake on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Later I worked as a camp counselor, waterfront director and assistant camp director at the Washington D.C. YMCA's Camp Letts. I worked my way through college and law school teaching water sports and safety at the camp. As I moved around during my 20+ years in the United States Air Force, the YMCA provided a consistent site for our family recreation and development. As a corporate executive, I volunteered to serve on the Mesa Family YMCA Branch Board of Advisors and chaired the Founders Committee for the Ross Farnsworth East Valley YMCA. I have served on that Branch Board since the Branch opened in 2010.
