Thanks for taking the time to visit my sponsorship page.
Kerry-Anne; the love of my life and best friend - she was beautiful, affectionate, caring, thoughtful, exuberant, with a fantastic dry wit.
On the evening I returned home on Wednesday 26th November 2008, Kerry-Anne's shoulder was hurting badly and after an unsettled night she moved into the spare bedroom in the early hours of the morning to allow me to sleep before our routine early rise for work. Shortly after 5 a.m. I heard a noise so went to check on her and was alarmed to find her collapsed in the lounge. Neither I nor the paramedics could do anything to save her.
Kerry-Anne was age 30 and seemingly fit and healthy. We later discovered that she had suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of viral myocarditis.
Kerry-Anne was an extremely happy person and had a special radiance about her which touched all who were fortunate enough to have met her. We all miss her dearly.
The charity Cardiac Risk in the Young ('CRY') aims to prevent Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome ('SADS') and support those affected by the condition. Hundreds of young people die unexpectedly of heart defects every year. CRY works to raise awareness of SADS and campaigns for proactive screening of young people. It offers help and support to those who have suffered a loss, provides medical information, carries out Mobile Cardiac Screening and ECG Testing Programmes within local communities and contributes to medical research. www.c-r-y.org.uk
I have first hand experience of the help provided by CRY to bereaved families that have lost their child, sibling, partner or friend and would therefore like to give something back. In support of CRY, I am therefore running the London Marathon on 13 April 2014 and would really appreciate any sponsorship to help me through this challenge.
Best wishes
Gary
