Kings Forest Trail Half Marathon · 12 October 2019

L'Arche builds communities with people who have learning disabilities. Together with assistants, they live in ordinary houses, with choice in and access to work, therapy and local resources. The nine L'Arche communities in England, Scotland and Wales are founded on Christian values, also welcoming people of other faiths and none.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.

Our team of seven (Gary, Sam, Stephen, Ali, Paul, Matt and Kris) are taking on the Kings Forest Trail Half Marathon to raise funds for L'Arche, Ipswich.

L’Arche aims to tackle the lack of friendship and loneliness that people with learning disabilities often experience and that affects so many and which has increased demands for social care and other professional support.

We want to support L'Arche, Ipswich in their aim of developing a building which they have re-named 'The Anchor' to create a place where people with learning disabilities can live as independently as possible amongst others who support them.

People with a range of disabilities along with their support staff and companions will live alongside each other, sharing a communal lifestyle, learning through the normal day-to-day challenges of inter-dependence and developing their personal qualities in ways that benefit both themselves and others.
