Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the weekend of May 28th I will be in the notorious Brecon Beacons in Wales attempting to succesfully complete a replica of the infamous SAS Selection Course.

This is the same exercise that featured on the TV show 'SAS Are You Tough Enough?' But will actually take place on Pen Y Fan, the highest peak on the Brecon Beacons where the real SAS stage their selection.

Please bare in mind this is a replica of the real thing which is renonwed for taking applicants to the physical and mental edge and then beyond, it has just over a 10% pass rate and in recent years only around 43 applicants have passed out of over 356 hopefuls. Essentially what I'm saying is that I think I've got 1 in a million chance in passing...

So I'm telling you there's a chance! Over the next three months I'm supplementing my British Military Fitness training by getting a personal trainer and going on a map reading course in the Lake District. I'll update this page and FB with photos of my progress!

Please give generously to a great cause!

The test takes place over a weekend and consists of the following;

Stage 1: Physical Training and Survival.
Point-to-point navigation exercise carrying weapon, all equiptment and 25kg weighted Bergan. This 14 mile excersise must be completed within 6hrs.

Stage 2: Physical Endurance.
Fitness drills

Stage 3: Team Building.
River crossings
Camouflage & concealment
Patrolling
Covert O.P. building
Close target recce's
Fire & manoeuvre drills

Stage 4: Combat mission/Escape & Evasion
Participants will be expected to exercise initiative and put the skills learned to use throughout.
Formulate & execute plan
Move to extraction point avoiding enemy capture at all costs.

Stage 5: Interrogation & Stress Positions
Any operatives caught during the above will be subject to interrogation for the remainder of the operation.
