The Educational Frontier Trust (TEFT) supports Kisima Mixed Secondary School, which is a free residential school in Kenya for disadvantaged young people. It is among the top-performing schools in the country, with 94% of the students achieving a university entrance grade (national average 20%).

Story

As many of you know, at the end of May I was part of a group of 24 riders who cycled from London to Paris to raise much needed money for the work of Kisima Secondary School in Northern Kenya.

- After 4 of the most gruelling days of my life, we finally arrived at the Eiffel Tower mid-afternoon on the Tuesday, and it was wonderful to cycle across the River Seine towards the Tower and see Christina, Emily, Susie and Harry waiting to welcome me in. - 24 of us set out, and I'm delighted that all 24 of us made it to Paris with no major mishaps (though plenty of punctures and a few bruises), and with a wonderful sense of camaraderie and fun throughout the trip. - We were a very mixed group in terms of age, background and cycling ability/fitness, and yet gelled wonderfully well from the start, and although the trip was physically very tough, it was also great fun and has left us all with a real sense of achievement.,

This sense of achievement is in no small part due to the amazing sum we have managed to raise to support the work of Kisima School in Northern Kenya: Thanks to the generosity of so many, I had to raise my own personal fund-raising target several times and it has reached a total raised so far, including Gift Aid, of over £8,000, and it looks as if the total for the team may even exceed £50,000, which is incredible and will go a long way to safe-guarding the work of this wonderful school serving the children of Northern Kenya.

So: Thank you for your support, and for your encouragement and prayers for me along the way: It has been so much fun (despite the pain, the unrelenting hills of the Pas-de-Calais region and the rain that hit us on the approach to Paris), that I feel almost guilty at having been sponsored to do it, but knowing that we have raised such a wonderful total for so worthwhile a cause makes it all very satisfying indeed.

If you are reading this  and have not yet given a donation to this great cause, then be encouraged to know that it is not too late to do so!!! - Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Educational Frontier Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  Thank you so much for your support!
