Story
Just a quick update to let everyone know I completed the Hackney Half in 1hr45min (and 52 seconds but I tend to leave that bit off). Thank you all so much for continuing to donate to such great causes. Gavin x
As most of you will now know, our son, Sonny, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. After nearly two years in hospital and countless treatments and relapses, the decision was made to undertake a bone marrow transplant. Despite Sonny's fight, spirit and an unwavering belief he would play for Arsenal, he died in May 2011.
Every year, I'll be doing something in his name and trying to raise as much as I can for charities we think really deserve it. Anthony Nolan is one of those special charities that I'm proud to run the inaugural Hackney Half Marathon for. Your money will help find more amazing people willing to donate their bone marrow, as for every child that receives a transplant, another does not.
So please give as much as you can to help more kids have a chance. I know Sonny would be very proud of the effort.
