Stuart 's LEJOG FOR AUTISM

LEGOG FOR AUTISM · 1 June 2023
On 30 August 2022, my soul mate and wife of six years was told she was autistic. This came as a relief for Anne as she finally had an understanding of why she has struggled in her life with various aspects of social interaction and how she deals with her emotions.
This has also given my family and I a better understanding of Anne’s struggles, which can allow us to give her the support and encouragement she may need.
As Anne was undergoing assessment for autism, I told her that if she was found to be autistic, I would cycle #LEJOG1000 (Land’s End to John o’ Groats) in 2023 (you can see where this is going).
So … being a man of my word, I have decided to attempt this challenge at the start of June 2023 and will use the book Britain’s Best Bike Ride written by John Walsh Hannah Reynolds published by Vertebrate Publishing to plan and organise my journey.
I will be raising money for the National Autistic Society in support of all those beautiful people out there who live with or are affected by autism.
This challenge will be my toughest cycling adventure to date and I am aiming to raise £1000, a pound for every mile along the route.
