National Captain announces charity fundraiser
We are pleased to announce that the GCMA has chosen The Golf Foundation as our supported charity for 2019.
To kick things off the National Captain, Cameron Dawson has stepped up and will be raising money by doing a sponsored slim.
“It has been agreed by the board that the Association will adopt a charity to support each year. The first charity will be "The Golf Foundation". After almost a year in as National Captain, and after being extremely well looked after by the regions and at all the matches, I have definitely put a little weight on!!”
Cameron will start his diet in earnest on February 1st and will continue until February 28th. His target is to raise £1000 and shed a stone within that time. His wife Elaine will be the judge. He is seeking motivation from friends and GCMA colleagues in the form of sponsorship.
The Golf Foundation is a registered charity set up in 1952. Its Founding Members included the great Sir Henry Cotton and The Duke of York is the Golf Foundation’s Patron.
It works with schools, community organisations and clubs by providing adapted equipment, training workshops, resources, grants and support from a network of Regional Development Officers
The Golf Foundation has two strategic aims:
To provide any young person, regardless of background or ability, with the opportunity to enjoy the playing and personal benefits of golf.
To help any young person to 'Start, Learn and Stay' in golf by providing a player pathway.
