Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The number of first degree entrants in Scotland declaring a mental health condition has trebled over the last five years (SAMH, 2020). This is a troubling statistic which will come into even sharper focus as a result of Covid-19, with a significant increase in demand for mental health and wellbeing support. The GCU Foundation's Common Good Fund is supporting vital wellbeing initiatives, providing extra help to students experiencing mental health issues.

In support of this fund, the GCU Occupational Therapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics Department have embarked on a virtual walking challenge. Two teams, The Wanderers and The Roamers, are racing to walk from Tangier to Gibraltar taking in the virtual sites of all the Mediterranean countries as we go. We have 9,285 miles to cover by walking as much as we can during lockdown.

Please support us by donating to our fund. This will go towards supporting our students through this challenging time and will help power our legs to reach our goal.
