We're raising £5,000 to buy GEC a minibus · 31 December 2016

The Giraffe Project supports some of the neediest children in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. By providing financial, managerial and educational support to a select group of partner schools "Giraffe Helps Children Walk Tall into their Future".

Story

The Giraffe Education Centre is a secondary school on the outskirts of Nairobi in Kenya. We support the children there to get an education and learn life skills to help them succeed in the future.

As the school is situated 40km from Nairobi centre, it can be difficult to reach by foot or public transport. This Christmas, we are raising funds to buy a minibus for the school. The minibus will...

Get children to hospital in emergencies:
When Raphael, one of the students, collapsed at school, he had to wait for a motorbike taxi to help him make the slow and unsteady journey to hospital. A minibus would allow us to take children to medical care as fast as possible when they need it.

Help keep vulnerable girls safe:
Girls walk miles to get to school, often alone and often in the dark. We want to be able to collect them in a minibus so they no longer have to make this dangerous journey.

Give young people the opportunities they deserve:
Being able to make trips off campus to sports, music and educational activities will open up huge opportunities for the students and help them prepare for the future.

Please help us buy a school bus to help us keep children safe, healthy and give them hope for the future.
