We increase the pool of stem cell donors to give patients a second chance of life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July 2020 we got the awful news that my brother Gareth smith was diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia. To say we were devastated is an understatement. He fortunately caught this just in time.

For those people that know Gareth you’ll know what an amazing person he is, and a bit of a Wally to boot!

He has battled all the way through his treatment and is a complete inspiration to me.

He needed a stem cell transplant after his courses of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy to help him fight this horrible illness, and hopefully ensure it may be gone for good. This is when when my sister Kerry Hill came in.

Upon testing through the DKMS swab test we soon got the fantastic news that she was a Stem Cell match for Gareth, which was the best feeling ever and when DKMS sprang into action.

Gareth is still fighting and doing incredibly well.

I would love to raise as much money as possible for the incredible work DKMS do on a daily basis, and help the research for Blood Cancer patients,to enable them to keep on saving lives.
