Story
Hi Everyone
Firstly, thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
I will be taking on The Thames Path Challenge Ultra Marathon on 7th September from Putney Bridge to Henley to raise money for St Christopher's Hospice. This will involve running/dragging myself round two and a half marathons back-to-back, but it is all for a great cause that is close to my heart. St Christopher's Hospice was there for my Nan during the last few weeks of her life, ensuring a dignified end for anyone that spends their last days there. The work they do is incredible, so I am happy to put myself through many hours of pain in order to give back to them (& it will be many many many hours of pain).
For some more information about the excellent work they do: At St Christopher's Hospice their vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to the care and support they need, when and wherever they need it. They were founded in 1967 by Dame Cicely Saunders and 50 years later, her words still remain at the heart of everything they do: You matter because you are you and you matter until the last moment of your life. Every pound you raise really does make a big difference. Here are a few examples of how your donation can help: £10 could pay for a haircut for a patient, £25 could pay for arts and crafts materials for patients to express themselves and whatever emotions they may be feeling through art therapy, £80 could pay for one of our nurses for a day, providing personal attention and expert care for our patients, £100 could pay for a group therapy evening session for bereaved children and young people.
As you can see, any donation really will go a long way!
Thanks once again for visiting my page & I will keep you updated on quite how many hours it takes!
