Bournemouth Half Marathon · 10 October 2021 ·

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

Together, my sister and I will be running the Bournemouth Half Marathon this October to raise funds for two incredible charities; Stroke Association and Pancreatic Cancer UK.

In the years of 2013/14, we lost our grandad David Thorne to stroke, and nan Linda Dennett to pancreatic cancer. Since taking on this run, more recently, we lost another grandparent, Audrey Thorne, also to pancreatic cancer and we’ll now be running in memory of her too. We’ve chosen to each run for one charity to help support the life changing research and work they do every day.

I’ll running for Stroke Association, who provide specialist support and fund critical research that improves treatments, care and rehabilitation and helps to build better lives for those after stroke.

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down, and life changes in an instant. Stroke Association’s specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can all rebuild even more lives. Please give any donation you can to help fund more life changing research!

Thank you💜
