Great North Run 2017 · 10 September 2017 ·
It is often hard to know what to say or do for a friend when their world is turned upside down. In absence of my magic wand which I wish I had, I have decided to run the Great North Run 2017 to fundraise for the charity that is providing invaluable support to my friend during an extremely difficult time. The name of that wonderful charity is TINY LIVES.
Tiny Lives became a part of my friends life on the 22nd January 2017 when Baby Avan was born extremely prematurely at only 23 weeks, weighing a tiny 1lb 4oz.
I can not even begin to imagine the worry, stress, pressure, complete upheaval and impact this must have had upon my friend, and her family including her young daughter who is only 3 years old.
Although Baby Avan still remains in hospital the good news is he overcoming every obstacle put in his way and is proving himself to be an incredible fighter. Tiny Lives has been helping to care for Baby Avan and other premature and sick newborn babies, their mothers and families in the special care baby unit at the RVI. The charity aims to provide the highest quality of care on an ongoing basis and needs to raise at least £250,000 every single year to support a range of facilities, staff and equipment.
Please help me to support this local charity by donating what you can in sponsorship. Myself, my friend and the yet to be born premature babies of tomorrow will be forever grateful.
