Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In April 2022 my dad was giving the diagnosis that he had Motor Neurone Disease. My dad had slight but hardly any symptoms, he slurred a word. Fast forward to 17th August 2022, only 4 months later, I lost my dad to this horrible, horrible disease.

My dad was my mums world, the best husband and the best dad I could ever ask for and now he’s been taken away from us so soon at only the age of 55 years old.

MND is a rare condition which effects the brain and nerves. It is a progressive disease that involves degeneration of the motor neurone’s and wasting of the muscles.

All my life my dad was fit and healthy, fixing my car, building and changing things in the house. I have no idea for him how it must of felt being assisted in every activity he had day to day. It rips peoples dignity from them.

People have no idea the strain this illness puts on families and the heartbreak it can cause, knowing the time you have with them is short but everyday your closer to losing them.

Our family is absolutely heartbroken.

Therefore, I have decided to take part in a 10k run to raise as much money as I can for MND Scotland as they provide a variety of support and research for this disease. I want to be a part of helping any other family who will be suffering like ours.

My partner, cousins & friend is taking part in this run also to support me at this hard time and also want to make a change. Most importantly, I am doing this for my dad.

Hopefully one day we will find a cure, love you always dad💙
